My little brother, Johnny Bonta, loved hockey for it's toughness and the sense of belonging it gave him.
When he unexpectedly passed away from epilepsy at 29, our family was left with grief and a new understanding of how misunderstood and stigmatized this disease still is. We realized how many people live quietly with epilepsy, unsure of where to turn or whether they should speak up at all.
This foundation exists to honor my brother's spirit by supporting epilepsy research, bringing more light to this mysterious disease, and helping more kids play the great game of hockey.
